Narmada River Parikrama Marg ‘A Spiritual Journey’
The Narmada River Parikrama is an incredible spiritual journey in India, traversing through the heart of rural Madhya Pradesh and partly Gujarat. This circular pilgrimage around the Holy River Narmada spans approximately 3500 kilometers and can be completed by foot, rented vehicle, or self-drive. The journey typically takes around 200-250 days on foot.

Narmada is one of the seven holiest rivers in India, flowing across Central and West India, covering 98,900 square kilometers (3% of India's geographical area). The river's banks are tapobhoomi, where revered sages like Agastya, Bhrigu, and Markandeya attained enlightenment. The Narmada River originates from Amarkantak, where a sacred temple and kund are dedicated to Devi Narmada.
Parikrama Route -The journey traverses through Amarkantak, Dindori, Mandla, Jabalpur, Tendoni, Barna, Narmadapuram, Jamner, Omkareshwar, Mandleshwar, Maheshwar, Rawer, Barwani, Sardar Sarovar, Karjan, Bharuch, and Godhra.
Itinerary (16 days)
Starting and ending at Amarkantak
1. Day 1-2: Amarkantak to Dindori (140 km) to Jabalpur (150 km)
- Explore Jabalpur's scenic spots like Bhedaghat.
2. Day 3-4: Jabalpur to Narmadapuram (270 km)
- Visit Sethani Ghat and temples.
3. Day 5: Narmadapuram to Omkareshwar (245 km) to Maheshwar (65 km)
- Darshan at Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga.
4. Day 6-7: Maheshwar to Barwani (135 km) to Bharuch (300 km)
- Narmada Riverfront and temples.
5. Day 8-9: Bharuch to Godhra (140 km)
- Local temples and ghats.
6. Day 10-11: Godhra to Barwani (200 km) to Narmadapuram (200 km)
- Cultural experiences.
7. Day 12-13: Narmadapuram to Jabalpur (270 km)
- Bhedaghat and Gwarighat.
8. Day 14-15: Jabalpur to Mandla (100 km) to Amarkantak (230 km)
- Return to the sacred origin.
9. Day 16: Amarkantak
