During the sacred month of Sawan, devotees of Lord Shiva from all corners of the nation gather in the holy city of Ujjain to worship and take part in the grand Mahakal Sawari. This vibrant and majestic procession of Lord Shiva parades through the city every Monday during the Sawan and Bhadrapada months of the Hindu calendar, symbolising Lord Mahakal's divine journey to ensure the well-being of his devotees.
The procession begins at the renowned Mahakaleshwar Temple, with an idol of Lord Shiva at its heart. The air fills with the beats of drums, joyful chants, cheers, and prayers as thousands of devotees line the procession route, offering flowers and seeking a glimpse of the Lord. The procession winds its way to the revered Ramghat on the banks of the Shipra River, where the sacred rituals of 'Abhishek' and 'Puja' are performed amidst the chanting of hymns.
This divine spectacle concludes with the return to the Mahakaleshwar Temple, leaving a trail of blessings and spiritual rejuvenation. Join us in Ujjain and witness the grandeur of this sacred event.
