Bird Walks in Madhya Pradesh - September 2025

A series of bird walks is being organised across Madhya Pradesh this September, offering participants the chance to explore the state's diverse birdlife and natural habitats. These walks are being conducted by Ataavi, in collaboration with Madhya Pradesh Tourism and expert naturalists, with the aim of promoting awareness while supporting local bird guides.

1. Bird Walk at Bhoj Wetland, Bhopal

Date: 14 September 2025

Fee: Rs 150 per head

Guide: Ankit Malviya

About: A Ramsar site that sustains over 238 bird species and provides vital ecological services to Bhopal. Participants can expect sightings of waterbirds such as the Lesser Whistling-Duck, Red-wattled Lapwing, River Tern, and Grey-headed Swamphen.

2. Bird Walk at Maharajpura, Gwalior

Date: 14 September 2025

Fee: Rs 200 per head

Guide: Vivek Verma

About: A mosaic of wetlands, farmlands, and village landscapes, Maharajpura attracts both resident and migratory species. Common sightings include the Pheasant-tailed Jacana, Asian Green Bee-eater, Painted Stork, and Sarus Crane.

3. Bird Walk at Poaama Nursery, Chhindwara

Date: 21 September 2025

Fee: Rs 150 per head

Guide: Rohit Yadav

About: Known for its ornamental and medicinal plants, Poaama Nursery doubles as a thriving birding hotspot. Birds like the Ruddy Shelduck, Spotted Dove, Plum-headed Parakeet, and Indian Paradise-Flycatcher are often recorded here.

4. Bird Walk at Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, Bhopal

Date: 21 September 2025

Fee: Rs 200 per head (includes museum entry)

Guide: Kritalee Chindarkar

About: Set amidst 200 acres on Shyamla Hills, the museum landscape hosts woodland and waterbirds. Look out for the Coppersmith Barbet, Indian Grey Hornbill, Painted Stork, and White-throated Kingfisher.

5. Bird Walk at Chidikhon Wildlife Sanctuary, Narsinghgarh

Date: 28 September 2025

About: A sanctuary built around the Chidikhon reservoir, supporting both aquatic and forest species. Painted Stork, Bar-headed Goose, Peafowl, and Shikra are some of the highlights.
