Bandhavgarh National Park

Royal Bandhavgarh: A Wildlife and Historical Gem

Nestled in the Vindhya Hills of Umaria district, Bandhavgarh National Park is famous for its rich wildlife and stunning landscapes, offering one of the best opportunities to spot the Royal Bengal Tiger. Historically, it was the royal hunting ground for the Maharajas of Rewa, and it was here that the first white tiger, Mohan, was discovered in 1951. All white tigers worldwide are descendants of Mohan. The park is home to over 250 bird species and 37 mammal species.

Notable attractions include the Shesh Shaiya in the Tala zone, a statue of Lord Vishnu reclining on a seven-headed serpent, and the historic Bandhavgarh Fort, believed to be 2,000 years old. The park's landscape, dominated by Sal trees, supports diverse flora and fauna, including Leopards and Wild Dogs.

Explore the Tala, Magadhi, and Khitauli safari zones, and enjoy a night safari. Nearby, visit Sanjay Dubri National Park and Parsili for more nature encounters. The best time to visit is from October to March.
