Moti Masjid
Commence your walk by exploring Moti Masjid which was built in 1862 by Sikander Jahan Begum. An interesting fact is associated with Moti Masjid that it is similar to Delhi's Jama Masjid in style.
Made of red bricks, the main edifice has a marble facade while the main prayer hall is constructed with lustrous white marble that shimmers like a pearl, and thus, the mosque got its name as the Pearl Mosque or Moti masjid. Two red minarets with golden spiked cupolas stand proud at either side. Make sure you soak in every sight while you take a walk here, for every wall and corner speaks a story of yesteryears.
Iqbal Maidan
Named after the famous Urdu poet Allama Mohammed Iqbal, Iqbal Maidan is right across the street from Sheesh Mahal and offers a beautiful sight of sunrise. When you visit here you can also take a tour inside the market which is in the close proximity of Iqbal Maidan. Do shop some masterpieces of Bhopali Batua or take back some as souvenirs for your dear ones.
Shaukat Mahal
If you stand near Iqbal Maidan you can view a part of Moti Masjid and a facade of Shaukat Mahal. It was the residence of Nawab Jahangir Mohammed and his wife - Begum Sikandar Jahan. Few most peculiar things about this Mahal are - elongate windows, the arch which is a combination of both European and Islamic architecture.
Taj-ul-Masajid
One of the most majestic landmarks is Taj-ul-Masajid. It is the biggest mosque in Asia and one of the most important attractions of Bhopal. This mosque is also known as the crown of all mosques. Also, every corner of this mosque makes for a picture-worthy shot!
Taj Mahal
Built by Shah Jahan Begum, Taj Mahal is a historic piece of architecture in Bhopal. This point of interest is an add on while exploring other historical places during heritage walk.
Come, plan a trip to the city of lakes and explore the historical side of this beautiful city.
