Hanuman Lok Pandhurna

Madhya Pradesh continues to strengthen its identity as a hub of spiritual and cultural resurgence. In a significant step towards this vision, Hanuman Lok Phase 1 has been unveiled at Jam Sawali Dham in Pandhurna, marking a major milestone in the state's journey of preserving faith, heritage, and community engagement. Such initiatives are also enhancing accessibility for pilgrims, creating organised spaces for large gatherings, and encouraging year-round spiritual tourism across the region.

Jam Sawali Hanuman Temple: A Living Centre of Devotion

Deeply rooted in faith, Pandhurna holds a special place for devotees visiting the revered Jam Sawali Hanuman Temple. Located around 25 km from Pandhurna and nearly 65 km from Nagpur, this century-old temple draws devotees from both Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra throughout the year.

What makes this sacred site truly unique is the belief that water continuously emerges from the navel of Lord Hanuman's idol, which devotees receive as prasad. The temple is also associated with deep spiritual healing, with many believing that the sanctified water helps bring relief to those facing mental distress.

This enduring faith and the temple's growing prominence have naturally shaped Pandhurna's identity as a spiritually significant destination, where devotion continues to guide its journey forward.

Shri Hanuman Lok: Vision and Foundation

The concept of Shri Hanuman Lok in Pandhurna began with a groundbreaking ceremony on 24 August 2023 at the Jam Sawali Hanuman Temple. Planned as a grand spiritual complex, the first phase spans approximately 26.50 acres. The project aims to create a space that blends devotion, art, and public facilities in a contemporary setting.

What to See in Shri Hanuman Lok, Pandhurna

The first phase focuses on creating an immersive experience for devotees:

  • A grand entrance gate inspired by Marathwada architecture, featuring Lord Hanuman
  • A 500-metre-long corridor connecting the entrance to the first courtyard
  • Sculptural depictions of Lord Hanuman's childhood across a 90,000 sq ft passage and courtyard
  • Additional installations across 62,000 sq ft, showcasing various forms of Hanuman Ji, featuring depictions such as Balroop Hanuman, Ram - Hanuman milap, Hanuman carrying the Sanjeevani/Dronagiri Parvat, and Hanuman in a meditative posture, among others, represented through stone-crafted elements

A key highlight is the 'Chiranjivi Path', a pathway from the main gate to the temple complex, lined with statues depicting different forms of Hanuman Ji.

Other facilities include an open stage for Ramleela and other religious events, an ayurvedic clinic, and landscaped riverbanks designed for devotees. For visitor convenience, the premises also includes a community centre, administrative offices and a control room (37,000 sq ft), along with around 120 shops and food courts, and a parking space of approximately 1.5 lakh sq ft accommodating nearly 400 four-wheelers and 400 two-wheelers.

Shri Hanuman Lok: A Blend of Tradition and Modern Development

Shri Hanuman Lok is being developed as a religious tourism destination, combining spiritual significance with modern infrastructure. The project draws inspiration from the virtues of Pavan Putra Hanuman: selfless service, humility, devotion, and strength. Encouraging a deeper connection beyond rituals.

The second phase, currently under development as part of future expansion, will include:

  • Sanskrit college, Bhojshala, and Dharamshala
  • Sanjeevani Path around Ramtekari Mountain

A Growing Spiritual Destination

With the development of Shri Hanuman Lok, Pandhurna is set to gain prominence on the religious tourism map of Madhya Pradesh. Known for its orange cultivation, the district is now emerging as a destination that blends faith with economic growth.

The project is expected to boost tourism, local trade, and employment, while strengthening the region's spiritual and cultural identity.

Conclusion

The unveiling of Hanuman Lok marks a meaningful step in shaping a more structured and enriching spiritual experience in Madhya Pradesh. Thoughtfully designed with both devotion and accessibility in mind, the project reflects a growing focus on developing pilgrimage sites that cater to modern-day needs while preserving their sacred essence.

As the project progresses, Shri Hanuman Lok is set to play a key role in strengthening Pandhurna's identity as an emerging spiritual destination. With its blend of cultural depth, infrastructure, and community engagement, it stands as a promising addition to the state's evolving religious tourism landscape.
