Madhya Pradesh global destination 2025

Madhya Pradesh has been recognised by a popular American newspaper as one of the "Go-To Destinations for 2025". The state is adorned with rich heritage, abundant flora and fauna and picturesque beauty, making for a premier, exotic travel destination in the heart of India. The list mentions Madhya Pradesh as a wild wonderland for spotting majestic Royal Bengal Tigers. There are 11 picturesque national parks in the heart of India, let us take you around a few.


Kanha National Park 

The national park and tiger reserve is believed to be the largest in the state and is considered one of the best administered parks in Asia. It is also one of the earliest national parks for Project Tiger and was declared a reserve forest in 1879. Apart from being a habitat for Royal Bengal Tigers, it is also an ideal location for spotting deer, wild dogs and Indian bison. The Indian Barahsingha was close to extinction and a successful breeding programme at Kanha National Park played a significant role in saving its population.  


Bandhavgarh National Park

Located in the Umaria district of Madhya Pradesh, Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve is one of the best places for tiger safari in India because of its high density of Royal Bengal Tigers. The national park derives its name from 'Bandhavgarh Fort'. Legend goes that it was a hunting ground for maharajas which was later turned into a national park. Apart from tigers, the reserve also houses 37 other species of mammals, 250 species of birds and 80 species of butterflies.


Pench National Park 

Said to be the inspiration for Rudyard Kipling's popular bestseller 'The Jungle Book', the national park is named after the Pench River, which flows through its terrain. Try your luck and spot a Bagheera or perhaps Sher Khan! You might also spot a variety of other species like the chousingha (four-horned antelope, chinkara (Indian gazelle), Malabar pied hornbill, small Indian civet and gaur  Indian bison. Satpura National Park 

Located in Narmadapuram district of Madhya Pradesh, Satpura National Park is famous for its rich biodiversity and varied topography with scenic hills, valleys and water bodies. Apart from tigers, it is also an important habitat for Malabar squirrels and Reech (Indian bears) as most of the Indian giant squirrels are spotted in the Satpura ranges. Apart from spotting tigers, tourists can also enjoy adventure activities like trekking, bird-watching and hiking the Forsyth trail.


Panna National Park

Spread over an area of 542 sq km, Panna National Park is a jewel in Madhya Pradesh's crown. It is home to seven endangered species of vultures. There are many nearby excursions that visitors can explore visiting the reserve including the Khajuraho Group of Temples. Go for a scenic boat ride at the Ken River, which flows through the park and witness the splendour of nature's beauty at the national park. It is also a unique way to watch the Gharials in their natural habitat.
